Life moves pretty fast.
You don't stop and look around once in a while,
you could miss it.
the way they see the world consistently amazes me.
they always seem to find the beauty in the smallest of things of every day life.
an appreciation for the both most generic & unique sights we take for granted all day every day.
that's an art. like a genuine gift.
i'm impressed.
i've always had a secret love/passion for photography. but as life has it, people's (my parents') opinions were inflicted/forced on my life and i was discouraged from pursuing something i genuinely enjoyed.... enjoy. [and i took up a sport - 'cause that is what gets you into college....]
but, also as life has it, everything happens for a reason.
i'm taking a black and white photography class next quarter. [in addition to arabic calligraphy, which i'm equally excited about because it's always something i've wanted to learn]
i'm more than excited. doing something i'm actually passionate about - haven't felt that in a while.
something i've lately been actively striving to do was pursuing things i'm actually interested in while i still have that option. i've been reflecting on how close i am to being in 'the real world' and how quickly life has been passing me by. pretty soon i'll be forced to get a job wherever i can land one - passion-filled or not. income will become my priority, not necessarily happiness. and that thought in itself saddens me. so while i'm in college, bullshitting and being lazy at times, i might as well make the most of my 'youth' and do something i actually enjoy. that will actually make me want to get out of bed in the mornings...
anyway, i hope i can produce some pretty beautiful images in this photography class.
and even if they don't appeal to the world, there's a beauty i know i'll see in my images, and as long as they appeal to me, then, whatever.
after all, that's what life is all about - doing something you enjoy so much because of the feeling it brings you. your ability to appeal to the general public is just a bonus that feels really really good. ha.
