love this part, and it is so true. the way people handle decisions and situation like this really let you see what they are all about - hands down.
i definetly agree with the "once you tell him, they have the cards" philosophy - but at the same time, you cannot just give up 100% responsibility they make. please believe, i would love it if guys could just say "damn, thank you but - you are just the homegirl." and even if they do say that, you are left high, dry and hjolding a grudge (@ least i am...it happened to me this year with one of our mutual friends and things haven't been the same since...)
so i say, you do run a risk of keeping it 100 with a guy that is your friend, but just try to see if they are on the same philisophical stance you are. because the new question becomes, what happens when they say they don't like you?
